YWCA of Mount Desert Island is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women, and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all. Established in 1904, it is the only YWCA in Maine that continues to offer safe, affordable housing for women and girls. It is also a vibrant community center, offering women’s empowerment programs that encourage growth and independence, social justice educational programs, and a full calendar of community activities for all ages that are open to all.

YWCA Mount Desert Island is the only YWCA in the state of Maine to offer lodging to women and girls.

This fund offers aid to single mothers, living in the areas we serve.

The YWCA hosts an Annual Martin Luther King Jr. sleepover and service project.

We help in funding educational opportunities for traditional and non-traditional students.

Carol Dyer Memorial Luminaria Evening
